Enrolled AgentFinder

How we verify

Enrolled Agent Finder is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

We download the IRS's consolidated return preparer file and keep rows whose credential field includes EA (Enrolled Agent), that have a US business address and a phone number. Where several rows share a business name and ZIP code, or the same phone number in the same ZIP code, we keep one. To stay a manageable size we list entries that have a business name or a website on file; individuals listed under only their own name with no website are not included.

The file does not state whether an enrollment is currently active or in good standing, and it can lag behind changes. We therefore say each practitioner is “listed as an Enrolled Agent in the IRS preparer file” and send you to the IRS directory to confirm. We do not say anyone is approved, certified or endorsed by the IRS, and we do not rate, rank or recommend practitioners.

Names, phone numbers and websites are as the practitioners filed them. Email addresses are not part of the file and we do not publish them.

What a badge means

Listed in IRS preparer file: the practitioner appears with the EA credential in the IRS return preparer FOIA file we downloaded on the date shown. It is a listing in a public file, not a current good-standing check; confirm in the IRS directory. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness

Data was last refreshed on 2026-10-02. The IRS refreshes the file periodically; we re-pull it weekly.
